It’s no secret that Microsoft had a pretty poor year in terms of exclusives in 2017, with many games being delayed and some of them being outright canceled. Many are looking for another big entry in the Halo series to right the ship, but it looks like Halo 6 might be further away than we think.
While a new a Halo game typically releases every 3 years (and 2018 marks 3 years since Halo 5), a new hint from the developer suggests that that might not be the case at all. A new post on the Halo blog from writer Jeff Easterling said the following:
“2018 has arrived and with it, the promise of new fun times to be had and adventures to be embarked upon. No, not those adventures, but plenty of exciting ones regardless — some which might surprise you more than others.”
What Easterling was referring to when he said “not those adventures” is up for debate, but it would seem more likely than not that he’s referring to Halo 6. This would’t be completely out of the question, because we haven’t even gotten a first trailer for the next game yet. Considering that we typically get the first trailer well over a year before a game comes out, that certainly seems to point at the next game not coming out this year at all.
We’ll have to wait for official confirmation from 343 Industries and Microsoft regarding the release date for Halo 6, but for now it isn’t looking good for 2018. It’s possible that they’re taking a little more time than usual with the next game, considering that the last game was considered by many to be a low point in the series. We’ll be sure to bring you more news on the game as soon as it becomes available.
