The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has received its long-awaited Xbox One X patch, bringing the game up to versions 1.60 and packing big visual enhancements. The new patch brings 4K and HDR support to the game for those playing on Xbox One X, which will make the already visually-stunning game all the more impressive.
The patch is about 500 MB and brings many graphical improvements split across two new visual modes: 4K mode and Performance mode. Developer CD Projekt RED said that “In 4K Mode, the game and all its additional content will run in 4K resolution (or supersampled on a non-4K display), featuring enhanced shadows, ambient occlusion and texture filtering, as well as higher resolution textures and gameplay at 30 fps.”
As for the other mode, “Switching to Performance Mode will enable dynamic resolution scaling, rendering the game at a resolution of minimum 1080p and up to 4K, while targeting 60 fps during gameplay.”
You will be able to switch between these two new visual modes via the game’s options menu, allowing players to customize the experience to how they want to play it.
PlayStation 4 gamers got a patch in October that brought 4K to the game when playing on PlayStation 4 Pro, though HDR still is not available in that version of the game. However, the developer promises that the patch bringing HDR to PS4 Pro will be coming in the near future.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. CD Projekt RED is currently hard at work on a new game called Cyberpunk 2077, which is shaping up to be their most ambitious game yet. That game does not currently have a release window, but we’re expecting to get more information on the game in 2018.
