Assassin’s Creed Origins brought the popular series back from a hiatus earlier this year, and most felt that it was a pretty solid entry in the series. However, there were the typical launch issues that did bring the experience down a few notches. Ubisoft has been trying to iron those out with content updates, and now the December update has been detailed.
The biggest focus of this update for Assassin’s Creed Origins seems to be offering a greater challenge for players, as a new new Nightmare mode and enemy scaling are included. Nightmare mode is a higher difficulty level for the game, which makes enemies enemies more resilient to damage. As for enemy scaling, when this option is activated the game will automatically scale low level enemies to your current level.
More quests are also being added to the game, with one of them introducing Horde mode. The event quest is called Here Comes a New Challenger, which will have you attempting to prove yourself in the Cyrene arena against endless waves of enemies. The recommended player level is 32 or higher, so this one is aimed at veteran players. The other quest is a surprise, so it looks like players will just have to stumble upon that one on their own.
The final god of the god trio will also be available to battle this month, with the warrior goddess Sekhmet being added to the game. For those who missed out on battling the first two gods (Anubis and Sobek), you will now be able to catch up and confront all three of them in Assassin’s Creed Origins.
Finally, the in-game store updates include a Gladiator Items Pack that goes live on December 12th and the Wacky Items Pack that goes live on December 26th. The Gladiator Items Pack includes the Spaniard’s Armor, the Palladium Shield, Hercules’ Gladius, Labrys and Neptune’s Grasp. The Wacky Items Pack will include a mount and four weapons, though no information on what they are was provided outside of the hint of the pack being “a perfect fit for the bath towel outfit.”
Assassin’s Creed Origins is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
