Mega Man fans have been waiting ages for the next installment in the series, and today it has been confirmed that the next one is in the works. Capcom has announced that Mega Man 11 is currently in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC for a late 2018 release.
Capcom made the announcement via a tweet on Twitter, which was accompanied by a 1-minute clip showing some of the game off in action. This was also captured in announcement trailer that you can check out for yourself at the bottom of this post.
Information on Mega Man 11 is unsurprisingly slim at this point, as the game is in the very early stages of development. However, it looks like summer of next year is when we’ll get the complete details, with bits and pieces of information sneaking out every now and then in the coming months. Regardless, this is an announcement that will undoubtedly excite the series’ hardcore fanbase.
Capcom had been getting everyone’s hopes up with the release of Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2, which served as remasters of the original games. Both collections received very solid reviews, and introduced many people to the series for the first time. It looks like Capcom was paying attention to the strong reception the collections received, as the series will finally continue in 2018.
We still have a ways to go until we hear more about Mega Man 11, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated as soon as more information is released.
