We’ve been hearing about a Nintendo Switch port of Stardew Valley for a while now, but today we learn that its release is imminent. Developer ConcernedApe has announced that the game will be coming to Nintendo’s new console on October 5, and will cost $14.99.
The announcement was made on the game’s official website, which was the following:
“Hi everyone,
I have exciting news:
Stardew Valley will come to the Nintendo Switch on October 5th, 2017
I’m very happy to see Stardew come to a Nintendo console… I grew up on Nintendo, after all! This will not only be the first time Stardew Valley appears on a Nintendo platform, but also the first time Stardew will be on a portable system.
The Switch version will be priced at $14.99 USD.
I would like to give a big shout out to Sickhead Games, who worked very hard to develop this port. They did a great job, as always, and deserve all the credit! I’d also like to thank my publisher Chucklefish for coordinating everything.
I look forward to hearing about your experience with Stardew Valley “on the go” this Thursday!”
Stardew Valley originally started as a PC release, but eventually made its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well. Despite not being a AAA release, the game garnered critical acclaim for its terrific blend of farming and RPG elements. It will certainly be interesting to see how the Switch port turns out, as it will be the first time that the game can be played both at home and on the road. Barring any technical issues, it’s definitely the kind of game that can be enjoyed in just about any environment.
