Dragon Ball FighterZ is shaping up to be one of the more promising fighters that are on the horizon, with buzz from previews of the game being overwhelmingly positive. The game has received a lot of praise for its incredible visual style that stays very true to the source material, but today we’re learning of a way that the game will be deviating from it.
Bandai Namco revealed recently that the game will include an original character that was not featured in the series previously, Android 21. The character is female and designed by Akira Toriyama, being described as a “busty scientist” with glasses and long bushy hair. She apparently has the appearance of a character that would appear in a Tales game. Her voice actress also remains unknown. More information on the character is expected to be coming soon, so be sure to stay tuned for that.
It sounds like this character will have a relation to the other android characters that have appeared in the series, which are Android 16, 17 and 18. Those characters debuted in the Cell Saga of the TV show, and they were recently confirmed for the roster of Dragon Ball FighterZ. Android 17 and 18 come as a package deal, whereas Android 16 is a standalone fighter.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is in development by Arc System Works, who are best known for the Guilty Gear fighting series. They’ve garnered a lot of praise for the work they’ve done with that series, and it looks like they’re doing everything right so far with their next game. While we’re still waiting for a concrete release date, the game is expected to launch in February 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
