Code Vein is one of the more interesting game releases on the horizon, mostly due to the way that it was announced. The game’s initial promotion drew obvious comparisons to From Software’s Dark Souls series, but when the game was officially revealed it looked very different. We’re now learning of a new way it is going to be very different, as it will feature a character customization mechanic.
The character customization mechanic was shown off in a new video from IGN, with the video itself being around 4 minutes long. The character being customized is the protagonist, and you can alter their gender, skin color, body type, face type, eye shape, eye size, eye color, hairstyle and more. It seems like the feature is pretty in-depth and will allow players to come up with some pretty crazy characters, as you’ll even be able to add things like face paint to your created character. You can check out the character customization video at the bottom of this post.
The following is an overview of Code Vein:
“In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity. Wandering aimlessly in search of blood, the Lost will stop at nothing to satisfy their hunger. Team up and embark on a journey to the ends of hell to unlock your past and escape your living nightmare in CODE VEIN.”
Code Vein does not currently have a release date, but it is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC and is slated for an early 2018 release. Be sure to check out the new video showing off the game’s customization below.
