Nintendo has revealed what the next Splatfest will be for Splatoon 2, which has players picking one of two teams to represent and then battle it out over a few days for victory. This time the two teams are Flight and Invisibility, apparently tasking the player with choosing which superpower they would rather have.
This Splatfest will officially kick off on September 1st and come to an end on September 3rd, and players will have to battle each other during that window to try and become the winning team over the 3-day span. We haven’t gotten the complete details regarding this Splatfest yet, but it’s likely that it will feature matching ink colors, limited edition gear and more.
Splatfests were a regular occurrence in the first Splatoon, and they officially kicked off in Splatoon 2 with Ketchup vs. Mayo. The results of that one was surprising, as even though Ketchup was by far the more popular choice, Mayo ended up eking out the victory with more matches won. A whopping 73% of players voted for Ketchup, but Mayo beat Ketchup in both solo and team match-ups by a very slim margin.
Splatfests have been one of the most endearing aspects of Splatoon’s multiplayer, and it’s good to see that they have returned for the sequel. The first game had match-ups like Cats vs. Dogs and Spongebob vs. Patrick, and the intensity that the players bring to the game makes it a lot of fun. It will be very interesting to see which team comes out on top once the curtain falls on the next Splatfest, and be sure to join in on the fun if you own the game.
Splatoon 2 is available exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
