As far as all of the games releasing for the Switch for the rest of the year, the one that is definitely the most intriguing is Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. The game is described as a turn-based tactical role-playing game, and that certainly isn’t the most familiar territory for Mario or the Rabbids.
We’re starting to get more information on the technical elements of the game, which concerns how the game will run on Switch. Creative Director of Ubisoft Milan, Davide Soliani, has confirmed that the game will run at 30fps whether docked or undocked on the console. However, there will be a difference in the resolution between the two modes, as it will run at 900p when docked and 720p when undocked.
This kind of trade-off for a lower resolution when undocked is a common occurrence on the console, as the lower power when undocked results in it not being able to achieve a higher resolution. However, some games have been able to pull off the same resolution while docked and undocked, with a game like Minecraft: Switch Edition achieving it with a post-launch update. It’s possible that something similar could happen with this game, but we’ll have to wait to hear more from the developers on that.
Fans will also be happy to know that the game will not take up a whole lot of space on their console, as it only requires 2.3GB. This is definitely a very reasonable file size, especially when considering that plenty of other newly-released games have file sizes that are much higher.
It won’t be much longer until Switch owners get to try out this interesting game, as it will be launching on August 29th.
