Thanks to the efforts of dataminers on the PC version of Tekken 7, we learned last month that there was something called Ultimate Tekken Bowl that would be coming to the game at some point. Well, today Bandai Namco has officially announced the DLC, revealing that it will be coming to all versions of the game next month.
As you might have guessed from the title, the DLC is a bowling game that has been featured in the series in the past. While bowling isn’t something that you would expect to show up in a fighting game, it strangely feels right at home in Tekken and having the mode back is sure to please longtime fans. A trailer for the DLC was also released, which you can check out below.
The trailer only shows a glimpse of gameplay towards the end of it, but it nevertheless gives us a look at the bowling alley and some of the victory poses and crazy shots. It remains to be seen if there are any interesting twists on the formula here, but more information will likely be coming closer to its launch next month. We unfortunately don’t have an exact release date for this DLC, with the announcement simply saying that it will launch in August 2017.
Tekken 7 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Despite receiving solid reviews for its gameplay mechanics, it unfortunately drew criticism for a lack of content like other major fighting games have as of late. While adding the classic bowling mode might make some people excited, the game definitely needs more meaningful content in order to keep fans engaged for the long haul. It at least didn’t make this problem as severe as it was in Street Fighter 5, but Injustice 2 is definitely the gold standard right now when it comes to the amount of content a fighting game can (and should) offer.
