Anyone who is a PS4 gamer will know that the process of unlocking trophies and then having those trophies added to your overall trophy total is not a seamless process. Once the trophies unlock you have to then go to your trophy page for them to sync, and depending on how the servers are doing this can end up taking much longer than it should.
While I’d love to be able to tell you that the process is now seamless like it is on Xbox One, I can at least tell you that the process has been sped up significantly. Sony has announced that “Your trophies will now sync much quicker than ever before on your PS4, so it’ll be easier to show off your achievements!” It remains to be seen how the speeds are for each individual player, but for right now things are looking good.
The company didn’t give any details regarding how this was accomplished and just how much faster the syncing process actually is, but it should still come as a nice surprise for trophy fans. I know there are people out there who compete with their friends to get the highest trophy count, so making sure that your trophies are synced all the time is important for the competition. Hopefully this means that they won’t have to sit on the trophy page for (sometimes) minutes waiting for them to sync anymore.
It would be great to see this as a major step towards getting rid of the manual sync altogether. Considering that your achievements automatically upload on Xbox, it seems strange to have to do it manually on PlayStation 4. Then again, there are also plenty of gamers out there that don’t care about trophies or achievements at all, so the lack of Sony trying to fix that problem likely has to do with the low demand for it.
