If you talk to people who were at E3 2017 this year, many will tell you that Dragon Ball FighterZ was the biggest surprise of the event. The game is being developed by Arc System Works, and they look to deliver a Dragon Ball Z fighting experience that is as close to the anime as we’ve ever seen.
While the game is still a ways off as it has a vague 2018 release window, we’re starting to learn about some new characters that are being added to the game that weren’t available to play as at E3. The latest one is Trunks, who is a fan-favorite character that everyone will be very glad to see has been added to the roster. This was revealed in the latest issue of Jump magazine in Japan, though there wasn’t much information given regarding how he controls in the game.
The good news is that the magazine confirms that a closed beta test for Dragon Ball FighterZ is in the works, and that more details on that are coming in the near future. These betas have been a great way to work out the bugs within the game before the official launch, while also giving fans an early taste of the game and what’s in store. We’ll be sure to provide you with more information on the beta as soon as we have it.
For those who didn’t see the game at E3 or any footage online, it’s a fighter that is rendered in full-3D while taking place on a 2D plane. This gives it an incredible visual style that looks identical to the anime series, which is something that fans are very thrilled to see. The fact that Arc System Works is developing it is a great sign, as they’ve done a great job with games like Guilty Gear and BlazBlue.
