This new 4K Ultra HD Smart TV in combination with those technologies promises the ultimate picture quality as it combines “the brilliance of 4K clarity with the brightness, color, and detail of High Dynamic Range (HDR).” The High Dynamic Range comes as the standard picture quality giving you a wider range of color and contrast, and Sony took it even further with technologies like 4K X-Reality PRO, X-tended Dynamic Range PRO, and TRILUMINOS Display to make you feel like being part of the scene.
This brand-new Smart TV also comes with The Backlight Master Drive+, gathering LED lights in one spot, reducing light diffusion and the flare effect that can be seen on other full-array LED TVs. This means that each LED emits a straight beam for a clear picture that displays vivid lights and dark blacks, and because of Sony’s innovative Slim Backlight Drive+ it manages to guide light to where it’s needed the most on the screen, providing exceptional brightness.
Sony also lets us know that The Slim Backlight Drive+ has two layers of light guide plates, allowing precise local dimming control and improving quality over a full-array LED backlight. This means that the quad-edge LED structure and X-tended Dynamic Range PRO backlighting algorithm brings superior brightness and contrast in an incredibly slim form.
The X690E is available in 60 and 70 inches and both models support WiFi 802.11b/g/n and come with 1 rear Ethernet input. The Photo Sharing Plus allows you to share pictures with your smartphone and even mirror its screen with Miracast. You will also find 2 HDMI inputs on the side of the TV and 1 on the back. The 3840 x 2160 resolution screen has direct LED backlight and allows frame dimming, but it doesn’t have a 3D option.
