The Switch has been a big success for Nintendo ever since it launched in March, so much so that people have had a hard time getting it. The console is selling out all over the place, with many people being on backorder lists. However, Nintendo is looking to remedy this problem in the near future.
The company has announced that they will be increasing shipments in July and August, and have apologized to those who have had a hard time getting their hands on the console. They add that new stock is being shipped daily and that they’re doing what they can to meet demand, but obviously that isn’t enough.
They go on to say that “For autumn and beyond, we will continue to work to ensure that as many products as possible can be delivered to our customers towards the end of the year, such as further strengthening our production system, we appreciate your understanding.”
The Splatoon 2 Switch bundle will be one way that they will be bringing more consoles to consumers, though for now that bundle is only confirmed for a Japanese release. It’s likely that a similar bundle will come to the US, however, especially considering that Splatoon 2 is set to be one of the biggest remaining releases for the console this year.
While it’s always a bummer when a console remains out of stock at so many different retailers for so long, it’s at least good to hear that the console is in demand. Nintendo desperately needed a big rebound following the failure of the Wii U, and so far they have been able to do just that. The steady stream of games has ensured that the positive momentum continues, and games later this year like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Super Mario Odyssey should keep the streak going.
