There are a lot of exciting PlayStation 4-exclusives on the horizon, but one that people are especially excited for is Spider-Man. The game is being developed by Insomniac Games, which bodes well for the game’s quality and what we’ve seen so far from it looks very impressive. The big question is when exactly we can expect to play it, but it looks like its release window has just been narrowed down a little.
President & CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment America Shawn Layden recently spoke with the Telegraph, and they brought up the fact that a lot of Sony’s upcoming games don’t have release dates. He replied with “To be honest, we’re already halfway through 2017…And that’s the nature of game development. No, I feel the lineup we have coming into the holidays this year – and GT will launch in the fall – I don’t know if you got to go to the pre-show [hands on event for media]? Well GT was heavily represented there on the floor. We think there is a lot of attention around that title from our company. And the stuff coming in 2018, all of that is coming in the first half of the year.”
This means that Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man will be releasing at some point within the first half of 2018, though exactly when remains to be seen. God of War will be releasing during Q1, so that would seem to rule it out of launching within that release window. This could mean that we end up seeing the game get a release at some point in Spring, but again this is purely speculation and there’s definitely big competition in Spring as well.
Whenever it does end up releasing, the eight minutes of gameplay that we got at E3 was enough to sell many people on the game. Hopefully we’ll be getting more footage of the game and a release date later this year, which could up happening at PSX. You can check out new E3 footage of game below.
