The Destiny series will be making its debut on PC with the release of Destiny 2 later this year, opening up the series to a new and huge audience. We’ve known for a while now that it wouldn’t be releasing alongside the console versions, but today we have learned just how much longer it will take for the PC version to arrive.
Activision has announced that the PC version of Destiny 2 will launch on October 24th, which is over a month after the September 6th release of the console versions. While it’s going to be tough for the PC gamers to have to wait that much longer while console gamers are enjoying the game, it seems like the wait is going to be worth it. The PC version will support 4K resolutions and uncapped framerates, which will make it vastly superior to the console versions for those with high-end PCs.
A beta will also be coming to the PC version of the game, but right now we only that it will be coming in late August. The beta for the PlayStation 4 version of the game will begin on July 18th, with the Xbox One version beginning on July 19th. You will have to pre-order the game in order to get access to the beta for all versions of the game, so if you’re planning on picking the game up at launch anyway you might as well pre-order.
Destiny 2 is shaping up to be a big improvement over the first game, which launched with many flaws that the developers tried to address over the following years. It looks like the sequel will have a greater emphasis on story than the first game did, while also making one of the game’s strongest online features (Raids) more accessible for solo players. Hopefully Bungie is able to deliver a great game and hits the ground running with Destiny 2.
