Prior to Nintendo’s E3 2017 stream there were some rumors suggesting that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 had been delayed, but it has now been revealed that that is not the case at all. During Nintendo’s E3 stream they released a brand new trailer for the game, and it revealed that the game is still on track for a release later this year on Switch.
The new trailer that was released for the game gives us a taste of the story, which stars a boy named Rex and his friend Pyra. Pyra is a girl who is seeking to return to her lost home of Elysium, though she also has the ability to transform into a powerful weapon that Rex can use to take down his foes. It’s shaping up to be another great entry in this series, and you can check out the new footage via the trailer below.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 E3 2017 Trailer
The trailer’s description says we’ll “explore an endless ocean of clouds, where the last remnants of civilization live on the backs of colossal beasts called Titans. Experience the story of Rex and his new friend, Pyra, a mysterious being known as a Blade who grants him tremendous power. Together, search for Pyra’s long lost home Elysium, the ultimate paradise for all of humanity.”
An official release date was not given for Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but more information on that is expected to be coming very soon. We do know that the game will be launching exclusively for the Switch, making it one of the biggest titles that will be launching for the console in 2017.
The last game in the series to launch was Xenoblade Chronicles X, which launched exclusively for the Wii U in 2015. That was the follow-up to the absolute masterpiece that was Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii, which is the best game of this decade in my opinion.
