Fans have been begging Nintendo for years to bring the Metroid Prime series back, as it is easily one of the most beloved series that the company has. Two games released on the GameCube and the third came out for the Wii, and all three titles are considered some of the best that their respective consoles have to offer. Well, we’re finally getting a new game after all this waiting.
Nintendo revealed during their E3 2017 stream that Metroid Prime 4 is in the works, which was met with big cheers from Metroid fans around the world. However, it seems like this game is in the very early stages of development, as all Nintendo was able to share was a teaser image of the game with no actual footage or screenshots being shown. However, considering how long it has been since the last game this is definitely more than enough to make fans of the series ecstatic.
Metroid Prime 4 E3 2017 First Look
Last year saw the release of Metroid Prime: Federation Force on 3DS, which was a spin-off that was met with big backlash from fans as soon as it was announced due to it not being a main release. The game was also met with very mixed reviews when it launched, making it a game that was quickly forgotten by fans of the series. The last Metroid game to release before that was Metroid: Other M on Wii, which was a platformer that also didn’t get the most positive of responses from fans.
A lot will be riding on this new entry in the series, as it has to make up for the lackluster responses garnered by recent games in the series and also break new ground. It has been a decade since the last Metroid Prime game released, so there will need to be some big improvements to bring the series up to modern standards while also retaining the core of what made the series great in the first place.
There’s very little information on the game at this point, but we’ll be sure to provide updates as soon as they become available.
