We knew that Horizon Zero Dawn would be getting a story expansion at some point this year, but Sony finally announced what it was during their E3 2017 press conference. The DLC is called The Frozen Wilds, and will be releasing later this year on PlayStation 4. You can check out the trailer for it at the bottom of this post.
It looks like the big draw of this DLC is that we’ll be getting to see the final of the four tribes that were mentioned in the main game, with the main game only introducing us to three of them. The game’s setting will definitely be a departure from what we’ve seen before in this game’s world, with this one taking place in a very snowy location that has some strange things going on within it.
This trailer that they released for this seemed more like a teaser than anything, as it’s only a little over a minute long and doesn’t feature any gameplay. This seems to suggest that this might be releasing towards the end of the year, and we’ll be getting a lot more details within the next couple of months. While fans hoping that it would be releasing very soon might be a little bummed, at least we know that it’s still on track to release this year and everything seems to be shaping up nicely.
Horizon Zero Dawn launched exclusively for PlayStation 4 earlier this year, and received critical acclaim. It’s become one of Sony’s most promising new IPs, and judging its success it seems like this will turn into another big series for PlayStation 4 gamers to get excited about.
The Frozen Wilds was not given a release date during the press conference, but it will be available exclusively on PlayStation 4. Stay tuned for all of the latest details on the game, and be sure to check out the new trailer below.
