If you haven’t purchased Payday 2 yet and have always meant to then we have some good news for you, as the game is currently available for free. Developer Overkill has announced that they will be giving away 5 million copies of the game on Steam until June 21st, so all those interested should grab it while they still can.
Getting the game is very simple, as all you have to do is go over to the game’s Steam page and click install game. The game will then be added to your account, and you can install it whenever you want. To make matters even better, getting the game will also give you access to the Payday 2 VR beta, which will turn into the full version of the game later this year at no cost to you. The VR version supports crossplay with the standard version, so people on both versions will be able to play with each other.
The following is a breakdown of the game:
“PAYDAY 2 is an action-packed, four-player co-op shooter that once again lets gamers don the masks of the original PAYDAY crew – Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf and Chains – as they descend on Washington DC for an epic crime spree.
The new CRIMENET network offers a huge range of dynamic contracts, and players are free to choose anything from small-time convenience store hits or kidnappings, to big league cyber-crime or emptying out major bank vaults for that epic PAYDAY. While in DC, why not participate in the local community, and run a few political errands?
Up to four friends co-operate on the hits, and as the crew progresses the jobs become bigger, better and more rewarding. Along with earning more money and becoming a legendary criminal comes a new character customization and crafting system that lets crews build and customize their own guns and gear.”
Payday 2 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The game is set to launch on the Switch later this year, but a release date for it has not yet been revealed. Overkill is currently in the process of developing Payday 3, though you shouldn’t expect it to release any time soon as the developer plans to take as much time with it as is needed.
