Nintendo held a Pokemon-focused Nintendo Direct today, which brought with it plenty of news to get fans of the series excited. One of the biggest announcements was the reveal of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon, which are expanded versions of the original games that will be coming to 3DS later this year.
It was revealed during a brief clip that both games would feature new adventures, stories and Pokemon that were not included in the original versions of the game. Two new Pokemon were revealed during the event, which resembled Solgaleo and Lunala. More information on the new Pokemon is expected to be coming soon, with more details during E3 2017 being possible.
Funnily enough, these versions of the games were originally posted on the Nintendo UK press site for the Switch. While this was news that got fans very excited, Nintendo quickly came out and confirmed that this was an error and the games are only coming to 3DS. Kind of a bummer, but hopefully Nintendo will have some big announcements for a traditional Switch Pokemon game coming soon.
Those on the Switch will be getting a spin-off Pokemon game later this year, which is an updated version of the Wii U’s Pokken Tournament. The game will be coming to the Switch as Pokken Tournament DX on September 22nd, and will utilize the console’s unique features for local wireless multiplayer play between Switch consoles. This new version of the game will also be adding new features like 3v3 team battles, online ranked play and friend-only group matches.
It was also revealed that the game would be getting new Pokemon added to its roster, which are Darkrai, Scizor, Empoleon, Croagunk and Decidueye.
Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon will launch on November 17th exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS. Stay tuned for more information on these games as soon as it becomes available.
