Finally, a full Far Cry 5 trailer is here, and some clear information along with it. The game is set for release on February 27, 2018. We have quite a while to wait, but we at least have some news that will hopefully satiate your restlessness.
The next Far Cry will be taking place in the States, in a fictional county in Montana (Hope County). We obviously won’t be fighting pirates this go ’round, nor eccentric tyrannical Kings. Instead, we’ll be duking it out with what appears to be a religiously zealous cult.
Ubisoft released some follow-up trailers, introducing three allies who will no doubt be critical to the narrative
Mary May
Mary May, the cute small town bartender, is the first. Mary tells us her story in “The Spread Eagle”, the bar we can assume she runs. Her history revolves around a displaced family and a murdered father. The as of yet nameless cult is to blame. As she speaks, we can see her pouring liquid from a plastic bottle into a glass liquor bottle by means of a funnel. She’s not just watering down drinks. Mary slams a molotov cocktail on the bar and sums up her monologue with a, “Fuck no. This place is ours.”
Pastor Jerome Jeffries
Pastor Jerome Jeffries is up next. A man of God, it’s no surprise Jerome’s trailer begins with the reading of scripture. “Woe to the man who leads my flock astray, for if I am not their shepherd, then I must be the wolf.” Jerome isn’t all that benign. The camera pans out to reveal a revolver hidden inside of a cut-out bible. Striding out of his church with a shotgun and bulletproof vest, Jerome looks to be a total badass.
Nick Rye
Finally, there’s Nick Rye. A pilot and a country boy, Nick is pissed and he’s ready to take the fight to the cult. The trailer shows him attaching a Gatling gun to his civilian plane as he tells us about his ancestor’s military history. Nick hints at an attack made on his family as he hooks the gun into place and gives it a sentimental spin.
Hope County sure is sounding unsafe. Stay tuned for more news on Far Cry 5 as it happens.
