Sega plans to revive several IPs as part of their three-year plan looking towards the next generation of consoles.
The plan was laid out in a presentation called “The Road to 2020,” which laid out business strategies and policies that they plan to implement within the next three years.
Reviving major IPs seems to be part of Sega’s plan, as it was listed as a major point in a section called “Segment Goal/Business Strategies.”
What IPs will be revived by Sega are currently under speculation as no other details were revealed in the presentation. Titles such as House of the Dead, Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio are some of the titles that come to mind when it comes to major IPs that have not been seen for a while and remain as cult favorites to this day.
Sega also laid plans to “create titles that will become global hits,” with Gaming Respawn quoting from the presentation that Sega wishes to expand current IPs and acquire new ones.
Sega looks to expand on the successful financial year they had in the fiscal year of 2016-2017. A total of 10.28 million game units released by Sega were sold during the fiscal year, with the release of Persona 5 and Total War: Warhammer helping the company’s good fortunes.
For the fiscal year of 2017-2018, Sega has set a sales goal of 11.6 million units with current and upcoming titles. These titles include Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III, Total Warhammer II and Sonic Forces.
Looking at the presentation, it seems that Sega has a solid plan going into the new decade. The company also looks to expand in the field of gambling, with plans improving their presence in the gambling business as well as the continued development of their casino resort Paradise City which is located in South Korea.
