The Halo series is undoubtedly one of the biggest series available on the Xbox platform, which has been true since the original Xbox in the early 2000s. Each release is highly anticipated and usually results in a great game, with all eyes now being on Halo 6 for Xbox One. Fans shouldn’t get their hopes up about seeing the game at E3 2017, however.
The news was revealed by Halo community manager Brian Jarrard, who made a statement on Reddit recently about the game. When someone alluded to the possibility of the next main entry being announced at E3, Jarrard said that they will “have a little something at E3 but it’s not related to the next major entry in the franchise.” This will likely upset a lot of fans out there, but I guess it’s better than getting your hopes up for nothing.
However, Microsoft is set to have a big E3 this year with or without Halo. It will be during their press conference next month when they officially reveal Project Scorpio, which is the upgraded version of the Xbox One. We’ll likely be getting the price and release date of the new console, as well as seeing plenty of games running on the new hardware. They’ve been teasing some unannounced games for the conference, as well, so it sounds like they’ve got a full plate already.
The last main installment to release in the series was Halo 5: Guardians, which launched in 2015 exclusively for Xbox One. The game’s multiplayer was praised by many outlets, though many agreed that the game’s story was a little underwhelming. Hopefully the developers took the complaints regarding the game’s campaign to heart, using the criticism to deliver a campaign more in line with expectations in Halo 6.
Xbox’s E3 showing will take place on June 11th.
