THQ Nordic has released an official trailer for Darksiders III.
The trailer was released after a number of leaks occurred, Forbes reported. Darksiders is a video game series that was originally released by THQ, with the last game of the series, Darksider II, being released back in 2012. The future remained uncertain by fans after THQ went bankrupt in 2013. The remains of the old THQ, THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games, managed to save the rights to the Darksiders property and are in the process of developing the next installment to the series.
The trailer reveals that the players will take control of a new female character, Fury, with trustedreviews.com reporting that the game will utilize an open-world mechanic to it, a new feature in the mostly linear series. The game will also have a new focus on exploration and environmental puzzles. These details came to light during the leaks of Darksiders III that occurred before the trailer was officially released.
In the announcement by THQ Nordic, Lars Wingefors, Co-Founder and Group CEO at THQ Nordic AB said, “After countless rumors, a major catalogue acquisition, and even a corporate re-brand, the team at THQ Nordic is thrilled to finally confirm plans for Darksiders III.” The game is currently available for preorder on Amazon.
The release date at this stage is quite vague, with a release window set for around 2018, being released on platforms such as PC, PS4 and Xbox One. There could be a possibility that Darksiders III will have a presence at E3 2017.
More details about the rest of the game are mostly just rumors and speculation at this point. It is likely that new information will be released to the public over the course of the year.
