We’ve been getting lots of information regarding Darksiders 3, with an official trailer confirming the game’s existence recently. However, a new video has been released that shows off the game’s gameplay, which is definitely looking impressive so far. The video comes from IGN, with the 12 minutes of pre-alpha footage attached at the bottom of this post.
The reveal of Darksiders 3 has been a slow one that initially started with a leak suggesting the game would launch in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Shortly after the leak the developers announced the game through the announcement trailer, confirming that the game was in fact coming to the aforementioned platforms in 2018.
The third entry in the series will be a post-apocalytpic action-adventure game that is set in an open world, with an emphasis being on environmental puzzles and exploration. The series’ hack and slash combat will be front and center here, but it will be utilized by a new protagonist named Fury. She’s a mage who uses her magic and her whip to deal damage to her foes, as she battles to restore the balance of good and evil on Earth.
As for when the game is actually set during the timeline, it takes place around the same time as the second game in the series. This means that it’s set before the events of the first game, with the game following Fury’s quest to destroy the physical embodiment of the seven deadly sins.
The most recent release in the Darksiders series was the remastered edition of the first game, called Darksiders: Warmastered Edition. That launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One late last year, though it will finally be making its debut on Wii U on May 23rd.
