E3 2017 is proving to be a year of firsts for the gaming expo. First they announce that their doors will be open to the public for the first time in history, and now they are hosting a new event known simply as “E3 COLISEUM.” It was announced earlier today by Geoff Keighley, producer of The Game Awards and host of YouTube Live at E3 for the past two years. He will also host the event and bring a familiar element to draw in crowds.
But what exactly is E3 COLISEUM? According to Keighley in a post on Medium, the man who can explain it better than anyone, “I’m teaming up with E3 to bring the culture of games to life through two days of panels, conversations, talks and other surprises. For the past six months, we’ve quietly been working with all the major game teams to curate special presentations… Alongside presentations from game developers, we will also welcome some very special guests from the broader entertainment world. They’ll join us to speak about the cultural significance of gaming and how this incredible medium has influenced their work.”
What exactly will be featured on those two days in question is almost impossible to say, but a small lineup of some of the biggest names in gaming were announced alongside COLISEUM. These include the likes of Bethesda, Sony, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Xbox, and with a promise of many more. The first E3 to welcome gamers as a whole into its halls is shaping up to be quite the interesting event altogether, and this event seems to be the first catered specifically to that audience.
COLISEUM will take the stage for the first time in E3 history on June 13th and 14th, and will be streamed live for anyone who can’t make it to the event in person.
