Nintendo’s fast selling Switch console has been hard to find for gamers across the world. Several major retailers have been sold out for weeks with the first major shipment wave disappearing from shelves. But this week, more and more potential customers will get there chance. Best Buy announced that they will be receiving new stock of the Switch this Friday, April the 28th. This coincides with the release of the critically-acclaimed Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a complete edition of the well-known Wii U title with all DLC included and slightly improved graphical fidelity. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will be the second big Switch release, after the launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Unfortunately for those still looking for a Switch, it has not been specified how many shipments each store will be receiving. On launch day, many retailers such as GameStop, Walmart and Target had anywhere from 5 to 30 units per store. Knowing Nintendo’s habits of stock shipments, these numbers probably aren’t going to change. People are advised to phone their local stores and ask the electronics department to find out just how many units they will be receiving. It will be helpful in deciding just how early you ought to show up.
GameStop has also received shipments of the Switch, but allegedly they are only available as part of a Mario Kart 8 bundle. There’s a catch, though. This bundle is priced at $500 US. That sounds like a lot for what ought to be $360, but these bundles only come in the rarer neon color.
Regardless, Best Buy should be people’s first choice, but if you’re desperate for the red and blue Joy-Cons, or just desperate in general for nabbing a Switch no matter what, GameStop’s pricier option is on the table. We’ll find out just how many lineups will happen in North America, and how quickly the new wave of units will sell out, this Friday.
