Nintendo have announced a Nintendo Direct presentation on their website, which says the presentation will be “focused mainly on ARMS and Splatoon 2.” The presentation will air live later today.
Nintendo Switch has been available since 3rd March 2017, and has been well received, except for one major criticism – the machine has hardly any games. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was Nintendo’s big launch day release, but gamers are now clamoring for more new and exclusive games. Fans will be hoping to see release dates for both ARMS and Splatoon 2. All we know currently is that these games will be released in 2017.
Nintendo recently held a public beta for Splatoon 2, the sequel to the popular multiplayer, third-person shooter, and it would be interesting to see if Nintendo mentions the beta feedback in the Nintendo Direct presentation. ARMS is a new Nintendo IP, which sees players control fighters with extendable arms by using the left and right Joy-Con to move, punch and dodge.
Whilst the Nintendo Switch is currently lacking the big-name Nintendo franchises, there are several independent titles on the E-Shop, like Shovel Knight, Snake Pass. The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ was originally pegged as a Nintendo Switch launch title, but was pushed back to 17th March 2017. Nintendo are also releasing the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe edition on 28th April 2017, which whilst a Nintendo franchise, is simply a re-release of Mario Kart 8 and all its DLC for the Nintendo Wii U. Ultra Street Fighter is also coming on 26th May 2017. Nintendo 3DS users can also expect news from the Nintendo Direct presentation, as it is likely Nintendo will provide more details about the upcoming Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.
The Nintendo Direct presentation will air from the company’s YouTube page in the US at 3pm pacific time, 6pm eastern time, and in the UK at 11pm.
