Gears of War 4 is set to be getting another major update soon, with the developer announcing the April update will be coming to the game next week. The announcement was made via Xbox Wire, revealing that the update would add a new mode, new maps and more when it launches on April 14th.
Seeing as it’s April, the developers are taking advantage by hosting an Easter event that brings a new mode called Bunny Hunt. The mode “brings back the oversized Bunny Heads from previous games into a new variation of Guardian. On top of that, fans will get to unwrap five Chocolate Easter Egg-themed weapon skins by registering on GearsofWar.com and completing challenges in this special playlist!” More information regarding the Easter event will be released closer to launch, so stay tuned for that.
As for the two new maps, they are called Hotel and The Slab. Both of these are updated versions of maps that were featured in Gears of War 3, bringing back some fan-favorites. Both maps will be available for Season Pass holders to play from today in the Developer Playlist, with Double XP and 20% Bonus Credits to boot. Hotel and The Slab will be available for all to play in Public Matchmaking from April 11th onward.
That’s not all of the new information we have today, as it was also revealed that a new COG character will be added to the Legacy Character lineup. Kantus is also coming back via Gear Packs this month, for those of you who are more interested in Locust characters.
Finally, the developer talks about the tuning that they have been doing with Gears of War 4, saying that these “tuning changes provide a major update to both Core and Competitive play. Our Core changes mostly focus on making the starting weapons fit their role better than before, with reduced range on the Gnasher, improvements to the Hammerburst and slight tweaks to the Lancer. For Competitive, it’s all about adjustments that highlight the teamwork and competitive nature of playing with these team-focused settings.”
Gears of War 4 is available for Xbox One and PC.
