This has been a big day for Shovel Knight fans, as we recently learned that the Specter of Torment expansion would be coming to all supported platforms next month. The news isn’t over yet, as it has now been revealed that Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove has received a new patch on Nintendo Switch that adds 1080p support.
The game previously ran at 720p when it was both docked and undocked when playing it on the Nintendo Switch, but with this new patch you’ll be able to play the game in 1080p while the system is docked. The screen scale video option is also only available while playing in docked mode, with the screen scale menu appearing for the first time that the game is started while in TV mode. The update also fixes a bug that caused screen scale and brightness options to not save.
Those were all of the tweaks that came to the Nintendo Switch version of the game, but there were also quite a few tweaks that have been released for all versions of the game. These include things like fixing a crash when beating the final boss with a German language setting, Horace sometimes rewarding the wrong gold amount when reaching the tower’s top, and a lot more. You can check out the complete patch notes by clicking right here.
Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove serves as a hub for everything Shovel Knight related, containing the main game (now called Shovel of Hope) and the Plague of Shadows and Specter of Torment expansions. All additional content will be added to the Treasure Trove, with more information on what’s in store coming this year.
Specter of Torment is the latest expansion for Shovel Knight, which is available now for Nintendo Switch and will come to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Xbox One and PC at some point in April. It costs $9.99 as a standalone purchase, but can also be acquired as part of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove for $24.99.
