In their presentation on Twitch today, ZeniMax Online gave viewers a look at some of the content and features that will be available with ESO’s upcoming Update 11. While a lot of material was covered, the stream focused predominantly on showing off the game’s new dungeon pack, as well as the new token system that will allow players to alter their in-game appearance.
During the first half of the stream, dungeon and story designers lead a gameplay demonstration through the Argonian ruin of Mazzatun, one of the two DLC dungeons that will be made available with Update 11’s arrival. Designer’s described the dungeon as “a little bit harder” than areas such as White-Gold Tower and the Imperial City Prison, and estimated that it would take roughly 45 minutes for a group of four to complete. Four new bosses will appear in this area, one of which will feature a “hallucination” mechanic intended to facilitate communication between group members. The story of this area will be focused on a mysterious substance called “amber plasm” causing madness inside one of the Hist, a species of trees religiously venerated by the Argonian people.
Developers also shed some light on how players will be able to alter their characters’ appearance, gender, name, and even race. After purchasing special tokens at the Crown Store, players can then cash these tokens in to alter either a character’s name, appearance (including gender), or race. Players will not be able to change their race to anything outside their faction, unless have already purchased content eliminating such faction restrictions. When a character’s race is changed, skill points invested in their racial passive abilities will be refunded, and their rank will be carried over to the new race. Prices for these tokens have not yet been finalized.
Update 11 is set to release next week for PC users, with a console release date yet to be anounced. Follow Gamesinners for more ESO news and updates, and see them for yourself on ZeniMax Online’s Twitch channel.
