Destiny’s end game PvP activity, Trials of Osiris was reopened for players at 10AM on June 24th. This should be welcome news for the games dedicated playership but comes with a caveat:
The fate of Iron Banner depends on a smooth run in Trials. Get out there and fight. I'd say "See you at the Lighthouse," but, you know…

Bungie identified that the cause of the bug came from update 2.3.0 released on June 14th. That update was intended to balance subclasses, weapons/armor, and to add new features to Crucible activities. The issues stemmed from one such feature that allows players to easily see if friends are taking part in specific activities. Too many friends playing in one activity created issues with matchmaking that were so disruptive Bungie was forced to cancel both of Destiny’s competitive PvP activites: Trials of Osiris and the Iron banner.
Bungie has since applied Hot Fix 2.3.0.1, which now shows only ten friends in the new “Player in Activity” feature. But that isn’t enough for them to push forward, full steam ahead. If the fix doesn’t curtail the Crucible’s matchmaking issues, players may be deprived of end game PvP activities for an extended period of time. That could be catastrophic for a game that’s active player base relies heavily on both those end game activities and community gameplay.
It seems, however, that Bungie’s persistent communication with the Destiny community might be a saving grave amongst the chaos. Many players are reacting positively to the news on Twitter, more excited that Trials is open again than annoyed that it was canceled in the first place. Some have expressed disappointment with the chosen map, Back Shield, which has been a (somewhat) overused staple for the event. Regardless, most players were grateful for Bungie’s persistent communication.
@Bungie good to hear guys, thank you!

Whether that gratitude sustains may depend on the success of this hot fix and the return of the Iron Banner on June 28th.
