Freeform’s ‘Cruel Summer’ and a ‘Mythic Quest’ standalone special also debut in the coming seven days.
The final season of Younger begins this week — though not on TV Land. It’s debuting on Paramount+ and will air on its long-time home later this year. The show leads a pretty extensive list of streaming premieres in the next seven days; elsewhere, HBO has a drama starring Kate Winslet, CBS airs its annual Academy of Country Music Awards broadcast and Freeform travels back to the 1990s with its latest series.
Below is The Hollywood Reporter’s rundown of premieres, returns and specials over the next seven days. It would be next to impossible to watch everything, but let THR point the way to worthy options for the coming week. All times are ET/PT unless noted.
The Big Show
Younger begins its seventh and last season Thursday with four episodes debuting on Paramount+. Creator Darren Star made the decision to set the final season before the onset of the COVID-19 crisis, both because the show’s internal timeline left off well before then and because, he told THR, “Younger is timeless. This a series you can watch years from now.”
The first batch of episodes will pick up after Charles (Peter Hermann) proposed to Liza (Sutton Foster) and will continue following the lives and careers of Liza and Kelsey (Hilary Duff).

Nasim Pedrad stars in Chad, a comedy in which the Saturday Night Live alum plays an awkward, obsessive 14-year-old enduring the daily humiliations of being a high school freshman. Laugh-out-loud moments are plentiful, says THR critic Robyn Bahr, but the show also “employs surprising depth and vulnerability, even if you sometimes want to wring this kid’s little neck.” It airs at 10:30 p.m. Tuesdays on TBS, with episodes also available on the network’s digital platforms.
