Hackers announced they breached HBO recently. According to an email sent to different reporters, the hackers, who didn’t introduce themselves, managed to seize 1.5 terabytes worth of content from HBO. It seems that this includes an episode of Ballers and Room 104. Even more, they claim they got their hands on Game of Thrones related content. It’s not quite clear whether they are speaking of new episodes or just scripts. Either way, at this point they didn’t leak anything related to GoT. However, they promise they will. The hackers also stated they will have an interview with journalists that spread their news well.
HBO chose not to comment on what content hackers may have seized. The company reassured its employees in an email that they are investigating the breach and that the security of data is extremely important to them. 1.5 terabytes are quite a lot of data, so we are extremely curious what the hackers managed to get their hands on. If they keep their promise, we will get more content soon. Game of Thrones fans would definitely like to get a sneak peek at the upcoming episodes.
HBO is not the first one to get hacked. Unfortunately, it probably isn’t the last one either. This year hackers have breached several companies’ servers, making public episodes of different shows ahead of time. While fans usually are happy to see the episodes rather sooner than later, this is a serious problem for companies such as HBO, Netflix, and Disney, who also got breached this year. Even with the latest events, Sony got the biggest blow back in 2014. Then, a group of hackers managed to access almost 100 terabytes worth of data and upload it to the internet. Until now, HBO mainly managed to keep its content safe, even though the first four episodes of Game of Thrones season 5 have leaked ahead of the season premiere.
