There usually is a pretty clear distinction between games designed to be played on a mobile platform and the other games. That is due to the lesser processing power, limited autonomy and somehow less comfortable controls that mobile devices have. But what if someone made a game with very simple mechanics, light graphics and a cool, interesting and replayable gameplay? The answer is easy: you’d have Reigns.
Starting as a medieval monarch, the player will have to confront and deal with a constant stream of requests from its court, allies, peasants and enemies in order to maintain balance in the kingdom. The game is built around a very intuitive mechanic: swipe left to say no, swipe right to say yes. It might sound overly simplistic and boring in the long run, but I guarantee you, and the ones familiar with apps like Tinder will agree with me, that the left and right swiping is more addictive than it looks like at first. Each yes or no decision might mean the end of your reign (the developer promises a number of amusing ways in which you can get deposed, and alive is usually not one of them), but the game goes on as a successor takes the throne. And you go back to swiping.

This essential yet entertaining game is going to be available both on PC/Mac and on the AppleStore (Android’s Playstore not yet confirmed) and is going to be released this summer in a yet unspecified date. The developer, Francois Alliot from Nerial, is going to showcase the game at the GameHappens festival running in Genova, Italy, the 24th and 25th of June, and is probably going to announce an official release date for the game.
More updates in less than a week, stay tuned.
