Deck13’s The Surge was a pleasant surprise when it released earlier this year, offering a sci-fi Dark Souls experience that managed to offer its own unique twist on the formula. Its level design drew some criticism for being a little bland, but the new A Walk in the Park DLC fixes that by offering a new and colorful (and deadly) amusement park for you to journey through. This guide will help you get going.
First of all, you need to own the base game of The Surge in order to play this DLC, as it is not a standalone release. You also can’t just start the DLC whenever you want to, as it actually requires that you make some minor progress through the campaign. In order to access the DLC you will need to complete the game’s first area, which is called the Abandoned Production. You must then progress into the second area called Main Production and meet up with Irina. Once you have, hop onto the train and you’ll be on your way to Creo World.
However, that only covers the first part of the expansion, as there’s actually more that you can access later on in the game. For the second part you have to progress to the Research and Development area in The Surge. Once there, the drone will call to tell you to go right on the corner, and it’s there where you will access the next part of the expansion.
It’s also worth noting that you can access both parts of the DLC from the Research and Development area, so if you would rather wait until you get to that point and experience the whole DLC in one go you can do that to. Those who are playing in New Game + mode will be able to play both parts one after the other without leaving the expansion area.
This should tell you everything you need to know about gaining access to the A Walk in the Park DLC for The Surge, so hop on the train and have some (deadly) fun at Creo World!
