Those familiar with the eSports scene will undoubtedly have heard of Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, who was formerly a part of the very popular and successful eSports team called OpTiC Gaming. He has since left that team and has been out of the Esports scene for a while, but he’s coming back in a big new way with his own team called 100 Thieves. Nadeshot recently spoke about the team on a podcast recently, and how OpTiC Gaming is one of his biggest targets.
Nadeshot sat down to chat with theScore esports podcast to talk about 100 Thieves and their move into League of Legends. 2018 is set to be a big year for the team, with Nadeshot looking to expand the game’s reach beyond its already massive audience. “The plan is to introduce the game to my audience and bring new eyes to League of Legends, not just market and go after the people who are already involved in gaming in League of Legends,” he said. “I want to bring the entire world over.”
It’s natural that some big rivalries are set to form as 100 Thieves enters the scene, and one of the most obvious ones will be with Nadeshot’s former team OpTiC Gaming. He said that he thinks “there is always going to be a natural 100 Thieves vs. OpTic Gaming rivalry. I think a lot of people that are part of the Green Wall — they may want to see me be successful in one way or another — but you better believe they’re going to want OpTic to beat the crap out of 100 Thieves.”
He goes on to say “I’m definitely going to play into that for sure. I want to beat OpTic, plain and simple. I’m out for blood with OpTic, straight up. We’re going to kick OpTic’s ass this year in the LCS.”
There are big things on the horizon for 100 Thieves in 2018, and it looks like there will definitely be some fireworks along the way. Will 100 Thieves become the OpTiC Gaming killer, or will OpTiC Gaming show the new guys who’s boss? Only time will tell.
