Evil Geniuses are backed by some strong pedigree in the world of e-Sports. The team started out playing Quake and Counter Strike when they were founded in 1999 and have branched out into several games over the years. The teams most notable achievement is winning DOTA2 2015 international tournament taking home the largest prize in the history of e-Sports $6.3M! But what about Halo? EG started their first Pro Halo team in November 2014 and have been very successful, placing 1st in 6 consecutive tournaments in 2015. They were also 1st in the qualifying tournament for the current Halo Championship Series: Pro League making them the second team to gain entry after CLG earned automatic qualification.
During their impressive run of games in 2015 Evil Geniuses where in possession of Tony ‘ LethuL’ Campbell Jr. who controversially left for “CLG” in early 2016. So who are the current EG team? Let’s take a look.
We start with the captain of EG, Eric ‘Snip3down’ Wrona. Gamertag: EG Snip3down EW. Age: 25.
Snip3down is one of the veterans of the modern day Pro League having played for a host of teams since he first came on the scene in 2008. Snip3down is aptly named and considered by many fans and colleagues to be the best sniper in the league. When he picks up a sniper rifle the Twitch live stream will follow him until he’s out of ammo, regardless of what else is happening on the map. It’s some seriously impressive stuff!
Secondly we have Jason ‘Lunchbox’ Brown. Gamertag: EG Lunchbox. Age: 25.
Lunchbox is the twin brother of team mate Roy and their bio may as well be the same. Lunchbox has only once competed without his brother during a short spell at “Legendary” in 2013. It’s worth noting that Lunchbox has only competed for four different teams in his career, which is a very small number for a Pro Halo player, this kind of loyalty suggests he will be at the core of EG for some time to come.
Next up we have Justin ‘Roy’ Brown. Gamertag: I am RoyBorg. Age:25
Unsurprisingly Roy is also the twin brother of Lunchbox and has equally contributed to their success over the years. Roy is arguable the better player of the two as he has multiple MLG season MVP awards to his name. Unlike his brother’s one time Roy has managed to compete four times without his twin during short stints with four other pro teams. Roy most often achieves the best K/D ratio for his team with a very calculated and cautious style of play.
The final member of the team is Ayden ‘Suspector’ Hill. Gamertag: Svspector. Age: 18
Just to clarify, I did not spell his Gamertag wrong, he did. (although I’m sure he knew what he was doing). Suspector is the new kid on the block for EG having only joined them this March when Hamza “Commonly” Abbaali left for L.A Renegades. Suspector is formally of “Team Allegiance” and helped them place second at the Halo World Championship. Suspector is fairly new to Pro Halo having only competed on Halo 4, Halo 5 and Halo 2: Anniversary.
Evil Geniuses had a strong start in week 1 of the season before taking a big blow in week 2, week 3 was better but not ideal. EG are currently 4th with 3 wins and 3 loses, I for one would tip EG to power on from here and secure a top 3 finish by the final week. One things for sure, they make entertaining viewing so be sure to check them out on Twitch on Thursday and Friday at 5pm (PT) or head over to Halo.gg.
