Counter Logic Gaming are an e-Sports team that many fans will know from League of Legends and Counter Strike, but ever since they have got themselves involved with Halo they have practically taken the game by storm. CLG are the current champions of the Halo World Championship tournament, taking home the prize of $1,000,000! They also gained automatic entry into the Halo Championship Series: Pro League in which they are currently 1st without loosing a match. As with all competitive sports both electronic and otherwise, certain teams go through periods of dominance (Nothing lasts forever). There are many teams knocking on the door and some great competition in the league, but for now CLG are indisputably the best team in Halo Pro Gaming.
The teams roster has changed several times over the last few tournaments but there current line up seems to be bringing them great success, so who are they?
First of all we have the captain of CLG, Paul ‘Snakebite’ Duarte, Gamertag: SnakeBiteFPS, Age: 21.
Snakebite began his pro gaming career in 2006 at just 11 years old and has lent his services to several pro gaming teams over the years. He took a short break from Halo when the game dropped from the MLG pro circuit in 2013 to play Call of Duty, where he had reasonable success with current CLG team mate Royal2 in a team of ex-Halo Pros ‘Final Boss’. Snakebite has played along side Royal2 quite frequently over several teams since 2011, they have only once placed outside of the top 3 in any competition when playing together.
Next up we have Mathew ‘Royal2’ Fiorante, Gamertag: Royal 2, Age: 20
Royal2 is the younger brother of Chris ‘Royal1’ Fiorante. Royal1 had some success in the Halo pro circuit some years ago and was the coach of CLG until he was replaced by legendary pro gamer Weston ‘Clutch’ Price. Royal2 was born in Saskatchewan making him the only Canadian player in the Halo Championship Series: Pro League. He has been a member of CLG since its introduction to Halo along with long time team mate Snakebite, their play style is tailored to one another and together they form the core of CLG.
The most controversial player currently with CLG is Tony ‘Lethul’ Campbell Jr. Gamertag: LethuL Age: 22
Lethul has earned himself the title of “Americas most hated gamer” of which he is rather proud. An understandable tag considering he doesn’t only boast the highest win percentage in Halo history but in all of Console e-Sports and he is currently the only player in e-Sports to win 6 major tournaments with 6 different teams. He was very much considered a one season mercenary until he settled down with “Evil Geniuses” in 2014 he did however leave for CLG in 2016 causing all sorts of bad blood.
The youngest member of CLG is Bradley ‘Frosty’ Bergstrom, Gamertag: iTz So Frosty, Age:18
Frosty is one of the most exciting prospects in Halo e-Sports having achieved so much at only 18 it is widely expected that he will achieve much more in the coming years. He currently holds the record for the most amount of prize money won in the shortest space of time. Frosty made his name at ‘Team eLevate” but unfortunately their World championship Series was cut short by ” Team Allegiance” resulting in a 4th place finish, following this the team did not make the cut for the new Pro League resulting in their whole roster leaving for brighter prospects. The acquisition of Frosty was highly contested but ultimately CLG came out on top.
Check out the Counter Logic Gaming team every Thursday and Friday at 5pm (PT) on Twitch, or head over to Halo.gg for all the action.
Happy Gaming.
