Here’s a continuation of female gaming characters that I think are top-notch. Check out Part 1 if you haven’t already, and there are tons of characters that I could list here, but again, I don’t want to bore you so I plan on keeping this short and to the point. Here, in no particular order, are my character choices for Part 2…
- Commander Shepard (Mass Effect)
To start off this list we have Commander Shepard, the female version obviously. She is a pretty damn good fighter. Constantly trying to combat and defeat a mechanical alien race called the Reapers at all costs, she even manages to come back from death to finish the mission she started, pretty awesome aye? Have you seen the Reapers? If you have, then you know that fighting them is a worthy reason to make it onto this list. We can’t forget that she also fights Husks, Geth and Banshees to name a few… practically anything that gets in the way, Shepard can sort it out. Not only that, but Shepard can also build up abilities and powers, or ‘talents’ as they’re called in the game. One of the talents can even throw your enemy with some pretty powerful force.
- Miku Hinasaki (Project Zero/Fatal Frame)
Miku, unlike most video game characters, never handles a gun, or a sword, and never kills a person. Instead, Miku is one of the bravest characters I’ve ever come across, because she goes looking for her brother in a haunted mansion, with no weapons (as weapons aren’t going to do anything against ghosts anyway) and decides to do this in the middle of the night by the looks of things. Turns out, the place is full of ghosts, most of which are hostile towards Miku, but she’s found her brothers camera, and capturing souls through pictures is the only protection she has. I don’t know about you, but I certainly wouldn’t want to stick around in a place like that! But she does, and she witnesses some of the scariest sights, sights that’d have me running out the door, but Miku battles evil spirits with nothing but a camera lens – that’s one brave lady.
- Heather Mason (Silent Hill 3)
Any character that has to endure the world of Silent Hill is by far one of the most awesome. Heather Mason is the first playable character in the Silent Hill series and to be honest, hats off to the girl for being able to withstand that dimension dressed in a skirt and a sleeveless hoodie/body warmer – I mean how did she manage to run in that skirt? And where did she even store any of the items? In fact, I don’t really want to know the answer to that! Anyway, Heather is definitely a fighter, I’m glad we didn’t have Miku in the world of Silent Hill cause that camera wouldn’t do squat! Heather can handle herself through using firearms like a pistol and submachine gun and melee weapons like a maul. A girl using a giant medieval hammer against creatures from hell, I’m not even sure how her skinny arms could hold that up! And she’s only 17, again, hats off to Heather.
And that’s it for Part 2! Thanks for reading, and as I said, if you haven’t had a look already, go and check out Part 1 of this series. Oh and don’t forget to keep a look out for Part 3!
