Even though it definitely isn’t the most powerful handset on the market, the LG G6 is without a doubt, one of the most popular ones. The LG G6 Plus, which recently launched, is now available for purchase in the US. To be more exact, US citizens can buy the unlocked international model on Amazon. Its price is $699, and it seems that the stock is limited. This is considerably more affordable than the $840 price tag it has in South Korea. Customers can opt for the blue or the gold color variants at this point.
The LG G6 Plus only launched a few weeks ago, bringing some improvements over the original model. While the design remained the same, the LG G6 Plus does include more internal storage. The handset is only available with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. The smartphone also supports additional storage, so users can expand the existing one with up to 200GB. Unfortunately, the handset’s new version didn’t get a new processor. The LG G6 Plus features the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset as the original LG G6 did. While this is not a weak processor, LG could have equipped its flagship smartphone with the latest Snapdragon 835 instead.
The 5.7-inch display of the smartphone has a 1440 x 2880 pixel resolution (~565ppi pixel density) and an 18:9 aspect ratio. This makes it rather tall and narrow. Thanks to this shape, users can enjoy the large display without it becoming uncomfortable to handle. The new handset features exactly the same cameras as the previous model did. The G6 Plus comes with a 13MP dual rear camera setup and a 5MP front- facing snapper. The battery didn’t get a boost either, the LG G6 Plus comes with the same 3,300mAh battery as the original model did.
LG did improve the audio quality in the new handset. The company added a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC headphone port. Thanks to this, users will be able to enjoy high- res audio on the device. Other than this and the storage, nothing really changed. The original model is available for a smaller starting price. However, in order to have the extra storage, one could actually end up paying more than they would on the Plus. Whether the storage difference is worth the extra money or not, everyone should decide for themselves. The G6 Plus was only available in South Korea until now. Those who were waiting for it can now order the handset on Amazon. You should keep in mind that this handset doesn’t offer US Warranty, though.
