Before Xiaomi launched its Mi 6 earlier this month, rumor had it that it will come in two sizes. The launch event came and went and we only saw one of them. The Xiaomi Mi 6 is now available for purchase and there still is no Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus on the horizon. It seems that Xiaomi canceled the larger flagship and settled for the smaller Mi 6 instead. Even so, the Chinese company will have a large-screen flagship Xiaomi Mi Note 3. The company didn’t reveal the reason why it canceled the Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus, but it seems it has something to do with the ceramic material it should have been made of.
Also, launching the Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus before the Mi Note 3 wouldn’t have made a lot of sense. The Mi Note 3 will supposedly be a great device. Rumor has it it will sport a Snapdragon 835 chipset and it will include up to 8GB of RAM. The 5.7-inch handset will have a 2K display and it will come in two storage versions. One will offer 128GB of internal storage, while the other will come with 256GB of space for users to store their favorite content. The handset will also include an impressive 4,070mAh battery. As for the pricing, the Mi Note 3 will probably have a price tag similar to the one of the Mi 6.
Given the rumored specs of the Mi Note 3, the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus indeed seems to be unnecessary. Of course, the fact that Xiaomi decided to cancel the large-screen Mi 6 means that Xiaomi fans will need to wait until the third quarter of the year to get their hands on a big Xiaomi flagship. Until then, they can settle for the 5.15-inch Mi 6. That is if they can get their hands on it. The Xiaomi Mi 6 sold out almost immediately after it became available for purchase.
