Chinese smartphone manufacturers seem to be on fire. They keep launching handsets, and some of them are truly amazing. Others not so much, but they compensate with their affordable price tags. The Gionee M6S Plus, which was just announced, belongs to the first category. This is a truly impressive smartphone, if not for else, for its huge 6,020mAh battery. We’ve seen batteries with similar capacity in other smartphones before, but they were never paired with as much power as the Gionee M6S Plus has. Also, the M6S looks nice. It has a clean, simple design and a huge 6-inch display.
Under the hood, potential customers will find a Snapdragon 653 SoC alongside a mesmerizing 6GB of RAM. The handset will be available in two storage variants. These are rather surprising because the gap between them is really big. We usually get 32GB and 64GB of storage or 64GB and 128GB. One of the Gionee M6S Plus models comes with 64GB of internal storage while the other offers no less than 256GB. Both variants support up to 128GB of additional storage, in case either version is to your liking. The Gionee M6S Plus also features a fingerprint sensor, a 12MP primary camera, and an 8MP front-facing one. It runs on Android Marshmallow out of the box. Of course, users won’t get stock Android, instead, they will have the company’s custom user interface on top of it.
Naturally, this handset will not be a budget phone. Its starting price for the 64GB version will be 3,499 yuan or $510. For the larger storage version, customers will need to pay 4,299 yuan or $625. The handset is already available for pre-orders but it will only hit the stores on May 2. That is only a week or so from now, so in case you would like to have this powerhouse, you can get ready to buy it soon. If you do, tell us everything about it.
