We had been hearing about rumors regarding a Destiny 2 for a while now, but earlier this week developer Bungie finally made the official announcement. They made the announcement by releasing a teaser image for the game on their Twitter account, which just displayed the title in the middle of a burning city and no other details. The teasing continues today, but the full reveal will be coming soon.
Bungie has released a new Last Call teaser trailer for the game, which features plenty of action that you can check out for yourself at the bottom of this post. However, the big news from the trailer is the announcement of the worldwide reveal trailer, which will be coming tomorrow at 10am PT. It is during that trailer where we’re likely to get the game’s official release date, along with finding out whether or not the game will be coming to PC along with the known PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases.
It has also been revealed that PlayStation 4 will be getting timed exclusive content for the game, which is similar to how things worked with the original game. How it worked previously was that the PS4 version included content that wouldn’t come to the other versions until about a year later, though we’re still waiting for the specifics regarding the deal for the sequel. There will also be a beta for the game that will only be playable on PlayStation 4, which is set to arrive at some point this Summer.
The original Destiny received a lot of support from Bungie and Activision, with numerous expansions being released that added to and improved upon the base game. While the base game was met with a mixed response when it originally launched, the general consensus of the game has changed thanks to well-received expansions like The Taken King. Support for Destiny 2 will likely run in a similar fashion, though hopefully the base game releases in a state that is more enjoyable.
