Insomniac Games isn’t a company that I heard much of, but I’ve seen their work quite a bit. I’ve played Rachet and Clank every now and then with my friends younger siblings when I’m over at his house and I can distinctly remember watching trailers for their much darker ‘Resistance’ series and reading one of the books in grade school. But they dropped off of my radar for quite some time, only popping back up this very afternoon after I stumbled upon a launch trailer for their new game Song of the Deep.
. @songofthedeep launches on Tue (July 12) for PS4/Xbox One in NA, and globally on Steam. Here’s the launch trailer!https://t.co/i25HevOG9e

The game is set to be released on the 12th of this month for a mere $14.99 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One as the tweet above clearly states (sorry my European friends, you’ll have to wait for July 19th to play) and centers around the adventures of Merry in her little home-brew ramshackle submarine as she sets off to save her father after having a vision of him trapped in the dark depths of the ocean. It describes itself as a ‘metroidvania-style action-adventure game‘ that will challenge players to ‘explore, experiment, and skillfully navigate a vast ocean landscape’ as they play. A passion project inspired by the daughter of Insomniac Games Chief Creative Officer, Song of the Deep has a simple and compelling message: no matter who you are, you have the ability to overcome adversity when you don’t give up. And I think that’s a message that should be heard.
