Among Giants studio has just launched a reveal trailer for Distortions, a musical game full of drama. Set in a surreal environment, the 3D game with third person perspective is bringing quite a unique concept of utilizing music and we can look forward to an awesome soundtrack with songs of bands from different countries, for example Labirinto and Hopesfall.
The main storyline of Distortions follows a female protagonist who wakes up in an unfamiliar place and the player will have to guide her through a strange, lonely world in order to find out what has happened and answer many other questions. The reveal trailer shows visually stunning environment along with soundtrack which will play a big role in the game. The protagonist is carrying a violin and she will have the power to influence things with music, as well as play along with other characters. The musical instrument is the only tool she can use to protect herself, fight with enemies or create pathways. In Distortions, it is up to the players how much will they explore the world they are thrown into as one of the main questions in the story is how far would one go to retrieve a memory.
“We did a lot of research in technology and created a number of concepts in order to make a game with a design that people would consider compelling. It was also mandatory to us to write a story that would inspire people to find out more about it inside the game world,” Thiago Girello, one of the developers, explains on their blog. They also revealed that the players will be able to travel between two parallel worlds in real time. Distortions will be released in episodes and we can expect the first one in 2017 for PC and versions for Mac, PS4 and Xbox One may follow later.
