While the Xbox One timed exclusivity for Rise of the Tomb Raider was a major bummer for fans and definitely had an impact on the game’s sales, it could be coming to PC much quicker than originally anticipated. According to a listing on Amazon (that has since been removed but captured by PC Gamer), the game will launch for PC on January 29th, 2016.
While the removal of the release date is suspicious, it does fall in line with the information that Rise of the Tomb Raider would be launching for PC in early 2016. Most probably weren’t expecting it to release that quickly on a different platform, but I’m sure the devs are looking to increase the game’s relatively average sales as soon as possible. The lackluster sales can’t be entirely put on Xbox One’s lower install base, however, as the game was strangely released on the same day as one of the biggest games of the year in Fallout 4.
Rise of the Tomb Raider launched for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10, 2015 to great reviews. Along with the PC version launching early next year, a version for PlayStation 4 will also be launching in Q4 2016. The game is set one year after the events of the first game, with protagonist Lara Croft struggling to cope with her encounters with the supernatural and looking for answers in her late father’s research.
