People have been asking the question “When is the next Steam sale?” for years. Regardless of whether it’s summer or winter, thousands of people constantly try to predict the next upcoming digital festival of savings. I, myself, have been using this site for the past year or so, and it has predicted the sales with good accuracy. But we now have official confirmation from sources such as Paypal UK that corroborates what people have been predicting off of past events. The Steam Summer Sale 2017 will commence June 22nd (that’s tomorrow as of the time of this article). 10am PST is the scheduled time when it will begin, according to a tweet made by Paypal UK’s account.
Many people had their reservations about the summer sale of 2016. Many said that the deals and the selection of newer games available didn’t meet the standards of a usual Steam sale. Despite this, I feel quite compelled to make the prediction that this year’s summer sale will be a very different story in terms of customer satisfaction.
Considering the general reception to 2017’s releases so far, on console or PC, has been very positive, I’m betting that many people are looking forward to grabbing many titles on sale. With games like Resident Evil 7, NieR: Automata, Tekken 7, Tales of Berseria, Friday the 13th, Hollow Knight and so many others that came out this year, it stands to reason that just about any gamer has something they’re waiting to drop in price.
Whether or not Valve will be able to keep the site operations stable is something I can’t predict, though. Steam is notorious for going down due to server overload. And if the Steam Summer Sale 2017 really is going to be better than previous sales, we can only hope that Valve’s servers won’t get decimated as badly as our wallets.
