Earlier this year we learned that Microsoft was going to be launching a new subscription service, which was titled Xbox Game Pass. This service gives Xbox gamers access to over 100 Xbox One and Xbox 360 games, all for the relatively low price of $10 per month. A trailer for the service has been released, which you can check out by clicking right here.
The trailer reveals that this service will officially kick off on June 1st, so it won’t be much longer until we finally get to test it out. The trailer is also pretty strange, featuring Danny McBride giving us a semi-idea of what gamers are getting into with the Game Pass. However, the video doesn’t give us any new information about the service itself, so it’s likely that more details will be coming soon.
Of course, the biggest question and determiner of this new service’s success will be the lineup of games available. If Microsoft comes out with a list of games that are among the best of the best available on Xbox, then that’s a great way to get people on board. However, if the majority of the lineup is indie games or just titles that aren’t necessarily worth checking out, then this thing will dive pretty fast.
Hopefully things turns out alright for the Game Pass, as it has the potential to give Xbox gamers access to a wide selection of great games whenever they want. In fact, depending how often this thing is updated and the selection of games that are available at launch, it’s possible that some will rely on the Game Pass for most of their gaming entirely. It remains to be seen whether or not brand new releases will be included with the pass, as it’s more likely that the games available will at least be a few months old.
Stay tuned for more information on the Xbox Game Pass as soon as it becomes available.
